NOTICE: 2020 HIGH POINT NORTH SPECIAL COVID-19 (Coronavirus) Information

We understand there are growing concerns due to the widespread virus COVID-19, (Coronavirus) and we want you to know that we are taking safety measures to keep our owners, guests and staff safe by increasing our frequency and sanitation standards. We are closely monitoring updates from city and government officials as well as making sure we are up-to-date on any news from the CDC on the evolving situation.

As more cases of COVID-19, (Coronavirus), continue to spread globally and within the U.S., we as an establishment have intensified our cleaning and disinfecting procedures to ensure the safety of our guests on highly touched areas such as elevator buttons, handrails, door handles, and public restrooms. We have taken several additional measures to help minimize the risk of contamination with higher frequency in daily cleaning. 

Due to COVID-19 and to comply with Maryland safety regulations, The Board of Directors and staff appreciate your cooperation with the following guidelines during these challenging times.

HPN COVID-19 Guidelines:

  • If you are sick, have any symptoms, or have been in contact with anyone who has been sick with COVID-19 or any other virus, you should self-isolate at home for at least 7 days after your symptoms started or 3 days after your last fever, whichever is longer -- if your symptoms improve.
  • Maryland citizens should continue wearing masks in indoor public areas, retail stores, and on public transportation. (They are also required in the state of Delaware)
  • The pool will remain closed until further notice.
  • Please do not overcrowd the elevators and maintain social distancing from those not in you household
  • Please avoid gathering (loitering) at our building entrances and exits and practice the social distancing standard of 6 ft. from those not in your household.
  • Visitors are permitted to bring chairs or blankets and lounge on the beach. However, we continue to encourage residents and visitors to practice health and safety guidelines while in Ocean City, including physical distancing and avoiding gatherings of more than 10 people.

Is the beach and/or Boardwalk open to visitors?

The beach and Boardwalk in Ocean City are open to visitors. Restaurants on the Boardwalk are open for carry-out only, and as outlined in the Governor’s Stage One recovery plan, retail stores may also reopen in a limited capacity as long as they are able to adhere to the guidelines.

Are masks required while on the Boardwalk and beach in Ocean City?

There is no requirement in the State of Maryland to wear masks outdoors in public at this time. We encourage people to wear masks in all common areas on the property.

Are businesses still open in Ocean City, Maryland?

Essential services, including grocery stores and banks, remain open, and restaurants are permitted to serve carry-out or delivery. As outlined in the Governor’s Stage One recovery plan, retail stores may also begin to reopen, in a limited capacity, as long as they are able to adhere to the guidelines.

Is swimming in the ocean permitted since the beach is now open?

Lifeguards will be on duty beginning Saturday, May 23, 2020 at 10 a.m., and will be on duty daily from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. throughout the summer. As with previous years, we do not encourage anyone to go into the ocean when lifeguards are not on duty.

Are out of town visitors welcome to visit Ocean City now that the beach and boardwalk are open?

At this time, we are open and welcoming visitors. Personal responsibility and doing what is comfortable for you and your family will continue to be of great importance when considering a visit to Ocean City. Please be responsible and maintain the social distancing standard of 6 ft. from others while in common areas and refrain from gathering (loitering) at our building entrances and exits.

I have a second home/property at the beach, is it OK for me to visit at this time? When can I rent my property to someone else?

The lodging restriction on hotels and short-term rentals has been lifted as of 5 p.m. on May 14, 2020, and hotels, motels, condo-hotels and rental properties are now open to the general public. However, personal responsibility and doing what is comfortable for you and your family will continue to be of great importance as you decide when you would like to travel to Ocean City. While you here, we encourage you to continue practicing health and safety guidelines, including physical distancing and avoiding gatherings of more than 10 people.
